📌 New: Selective disclosure is the privacy primitive AI did not know it needed
AI safety evaluation has a demographic problem. Models behave differently for different populations, dialects, and expertise levels. Evaluator pools need verified range, and the two default options both force a bad trade-off: self-report (unreliable, demographic-leak prone) or surveillance (intrusive, drives away the very evaluators most likely to provide range).
Selective disclosure, formalised in W3C Verifiable Credentials Data Model 2.0 and implemented in IETF RFC 9901 (SD-JWT), is the third option. A trusted issuer attests a credential, holder stores it on-device, verifier asks for proof of one attribute, holder's wallet presents the proof. The platform learns one fact. Nothing else.
